Elagabalus, 218-222. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.34 g, 7 h), uncertain mint in the East, 218-219. ANTONINVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. HILARITAS AVG Hilaritas standing front, head to left, holding palm frond in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left; at her feet, two nude children standing right and left, reaching up to her. Thirion -, cf. 352-4 (Hilaritas holding patera and palm). Apparently unpublished. Lustrous and very attractive. Very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.

From the Joseph Markowitz Collection (1897-1981), brought to Israel in 1949 and kept in the family ever since.
